Margaret Ann Reid Boustead's Obituary

Margaret Ann Reid Boustead, whose twinkling eyes, and kind soul made each person she encountered feel important and loved, died peacefully on December 18, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born on November 11, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland to John and Jean Peil, Margaret was a toddler during the final years of World War II. Margaret looked up to her older brother Bill Peil, whom she loved dearly.

Margaret moved to London, England, in 1968 and took a job at the front desk of the storied Mayfair Hotel. Margaret helped train a new front desk clerk named Richard Boustead. Richard graduated from culinary school in northern England and had moved to London after spending time training at restaurants in Paris, France and Lucerne, Switzerland. In 1970 Richard and Margaret decided to relocate to Canada. They were married at the courthouse in Banff, Alberta Canada on August 4, 1971 and started a life together that would find them living in Calgary, Alberta, Vancouver British Columbia, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Minaki, Ontario Canada, Fargo, North Dakota, Charlotte, North Carolina, St. Paul, Minnesota USA, Yogyakarta then Bali, Indonesia, San Antonio, Texas, Seattle, Washington and lastly Waleska, Georgia USA. Margaret and Richard loved exploring the world together and made lifelong friends everywhere they went. Margaret gave birth to Natalie Joy Boustead on July 10, 1973, in Vancouver, then Richard Alexander John Dalglish Boustead on September 23, 1974, in Edmonton. Margaret loved her family deeply. Both Margaret and Richard were warm and loving hosts who frequently welcomed their family members who often travelled from the UK and other countries to join them during their journey across North America and Indonesia.

Margaret was a playful, kind, and loving person who had a way of making strangers feel at ease and those close to her feel unconditionally loved. Margaret saw the goodness in people; she accepted all people regardless of race, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or culture.

Margaret is survived by her husband Richard Boustead, daughter Natalie Boustead, son Rich Boustead and four grandchildren Declan (20 years), Kennedy (18 years), and Carter and Dylan (14 years). Margaret held a close and loving relationship with her daughter in law Susie, Susie's sister Nancy and her husband David and son Trenton, and Susie and Nancy's parents Ines and Klaus Huggle. Margaret was proud of her godson Sean Burton and loved him deeply. Although an ocean separated Margaret from her family in the UK, she maintained a loving relationship with all.

The legacy of life experiences Margaret leaves is enormous, so is the love she shared with all she knew.
