Marie Riley Davenport, 81, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018. Marie was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She is survived by sons Rob and Mark, Daughter in law Kim Davenport, grandchildren JR, Drew, Connor, Jordan, Ella, Riley, Skyler and great grandchildren Lucy, Scarlett, Macy, Grayson, and Landry.
Marie was a graduate of the University of Tampa where she was a majorette and a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She met the love of her life Dave, who was a football player at the University. Marie majored in Early Childhood Education and was a second grade teacher for most of her life in Cherokee County. She loved teaching more than anything and influencing all of her young students lives through creativity and experiences. Marie was the #1 Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, Gone with the Wind Enthusiast , and Peach Tea lover.
Visitation will be received on Thursday August 9, 2018 at Darby Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia from 4-7pm. A graveside ceremony will be held at Macedonia Memorial Gardens in Macedonia, Georgia on Friday August 10, 2018 at 11am.
