Mary Kight Chambers, age 82, of Canton, Georgia went to Glory on September 3, 2014. She was born on July 8, 1932 in Kite, Georgia. Her parents Ruby and Ray Kight and her brother Ray Kight, Jr. preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her husband of sixty years, Charles, her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Gina Chambers, Stephen and JoAnn Chambers of Canton and Timothy Chambers of Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
Momma Mary was the proud grandmother of Morgan, Lawson and Zack Chambers, Hilary and Ryan Alsbrooks, and Timothy Roberts. She was also the proud great grandmother of Faith Alsbrooks and Myron Roberts. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mary was the mother to over forty foster children with whom she shared her love over the years.
She was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Canton First United Methodist Church. She was known as a prayer warrior, encourager, and mentor to all who crossed her path. Mary taught school for over twenty years and retired from the Cherokee County School District in 1994. Mary loved her church, family, and community. She acted on her love for all people by volunteering with several organizations that served those in need. She will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home, Canton, Georgia on Thursday, September 4 from 4PM-8PM and Friday, September 5 from 2-8 PM. The funeral service will be held at Canton First United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 AM
