Mary Lou Hansen Cook
May 2, 1950 – May 11, 2025
Mary Lou Hansen Cook, age 75, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 2, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, Mary was the beloved daughter of Ernest and Rebecca Collier Hansen.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and friend whose love and warmth touched all who knew her. She married the love of her life, Larry Cook, 54 years ago, and together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and quiet joys. Her greatest pride was her children—son Rodney Cook of Canton, GA, and daughter Melissa Cook of New Jersey—whom she loved unconditionally.
Mary had a deep appreciation for the art of craftsmanship. She found peace and fulfillment in quilting, sewing, and rug hooking—each stitch a reflection of her creativity and care. She had a passion for collecting primitive antiques, finding beauty in the worn, the weathered, and the well-loved. She also loved to shop, always with a keen eye for something special to add to her cherished collection.
Those who knew Mary will remember her for her gentle spirit, her enduring strength, and her quiet humor. She filled her home with warmth, her family with love, and her days with meaning.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry Cook of Canton, GA; her son, Rodney Cook of Canton, GA; and her daughter, Melissa Cook of New Jersey.
In accordance with her wishes, no services are scheduled at this time.
Mary's life was a patchwork of love, stitched together with grace, patience, and care. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
