May Milner's Obituary
May Milner, age 87, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Northside Hospital Cherokee.
May was born in Canton, Georgia to her loving parents, Grady and Elizabeth Marshall. She grew up in the Hickory Flat community alongside her lifelong best friend, Betty Crowe, and those early friendships remained dear to her throughout her life.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from her family. May is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Milner of Canton, Georgia; her sons, Randy Milner of Canton, Georgia, and Danny (Dena) Milner of Canton, Georgia; her grandchildren, Brannigan (Robbie) Hearn, Brittany Milner, Russell (Donna) Milner, and Caroline (Eddie) Stice; and seven cherished great-grandchildren.
May lovingly served her community for many years as a lunch lady at Hickory Flat Elementary School, where she was known for her warm heart and welcoming smile. Later, she co-owned a cleaning service with Jeanette Garren, pouring the same care into her work that she gave to her family. She was a faithful member of Hickory Flat Fellowship, where her kindness, faith, and compassion touched many.
May loved life — especially dancing, traveling, and creating joyful memories with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was taking children on trips to Unicoi Springs, where laughter and love were always in abundance.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Darby Funeral Home on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services celebrating and honoring May's life will follow Tuesday's visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home, with Rev. David Cain and Rev. Randy Milner officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
May Milner will be remembered for her loving spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
