Mickey Chastain, a resident of Canton, GA., passed away of natural causes, on October 9, 2021 while residing in hospice care in Cartersville, GA. Mickey was born and raised in Canton, GA. After graduating from Canton High School in 1955 he entered the US Air Force and served four years. Afterward he attended Southern Technical Institute and received and associate degree in Technical Engineering. He was employed as a member of the management team at Canton Textile Mills for may years until its' closing. Later he bought out Dean and Moore Insurance Agency and eventually changed the name to Canton Insurance which he operated until his passing. Outside of his work Mickey enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching the Braves and Georgia Tech football. But most of all he loved his family.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents Burtz and Marie Chastain. He is survived by his wife Carole, daughter Tamara, son Michael, Jr., daughter-in-law Staci, grandchildren Zachary and Keegan, brother Bill and sister-in-law Wanda, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Butch and Brenda Brooks, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home on Saturday, October 16th from 3-5pm and Sunday, October 17th from 12-2pm. The funeral will be on Sunday, October 17th at 2pm in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Rev. Horace Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
