Michael Harmon, a deeply devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud Vietnam veteran, passed away on April 26, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was a man of deep faith whose life was defined by his love of God, country, and family.
Michael served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, a part of his life he carried with quiet patriotic importance and humility.
He was preceded in death by his father, C. Lanier Harmon; his mother, Elvin Porter Harmon; and his sister, Sara Danner.
For 55 years, he shared a faithful, loving, and enduring marriage with his beloved wife, Maryellen “Mimi” Harmon. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and commitment, creating a strong foundation that continues to shape their family.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Michele and Jeff Ledbetter, Andrea and Nathan Burkiett, Kim and Sean Thompson, and Abbey and Chad Beard; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Sean, Nathan, Chloe, Kendall, Ansley, Walker, and McKinley; one great-grandson, Ronnie; and his brother, Gerald Harmon.
Michael found joy in the simple things—he loved golfing, playing games, sharing laughter, watching the Georgia Bulldogs, and spending time with his family. He treasured hearing from his daughters and grandchildren and valued every moment spent together.
He instilled in his family the importance of responsibility, faith, and showing up for one another. Those values live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren, who carry forward his example of strength, love, and devotion.
Services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Anglican Church located at 231 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, Georgia 30188. Interment will be held Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Resurrection Anglican Church Building Fund.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Michael Harmon.
