Michael John Molasso, age 51, of Canton, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Michael was born in Fernandina Beach, Florida on October 9, 1974. Michael was a 20-year veteran Law Enforcement Officer for Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in Pasco County, Florida as well as Canton Police Department in Canton, Georgia. He was a devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Ball Ground, Georgia where he served as a sound system specialist.
Michael started his law enforcement career in 1999 with Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. He would serve honorably with the Traffic Unit, Motorcycle Unit, and DUI unit. Michael earned many awards and commendations from the agency as well as the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. In 2017, Michael started working with the Canton Police Department in Canton, Georgia. Michael again earned many awards and commendations from the agency to include commendations from the Chief of Police and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
Michael was a very loving husband to his wife and amazing dad to his two sons. He was a very hard worker who supported his family without question. Michael was very well known to every community he lived in. He was dedicated to his law enforcement career and served with honor, integrity and personal courage. Every person that Michael met was never a stranger to him. He was very loved and highly respected by his family and friends.
His famous quotes were “I’ll do it tomorrow” and “I win!”.
Michael was preceded in death by his father John Molasso.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon Molasso of Canton, Georgia; his sons, Christian Molasso and Ayden Molasso of Canton, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Sandra O’Sullivan of Canton, Georgia; his uncle in law, Earl Hill of Lakeland, Florida; his brother-in-law, Patrick O’Sullivan of Jacksonville, Florida; his sister-in-law, Kelly O’Sullivan of Jacksonville, Florida; He is also survived by numerous friends, extended family members, church members and co-workers.
The Molasso family will receive family and friends for visitation at Calvary Baptist Church (137 Hightower Rd, Ball Ground, GA 30107) on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life service starting at 11:00 a.m. The Molasso Family will host a private event at their home for family and friends following the Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, The Molasso Family requests that contributions be made in Michael’s name to either The Gary Sinise Foundation which supports and serves Active-Duty service members and their families, military veterans and their families, wounded warriors, and first responders and their families, or to Calvary Baptist Church through their E-Giving link on their website in honor of the congregation’s unwavering commitment and dedicated support to their community.
