Mimi Jo Butler's Obituary

Mimi Jo Hill Butler, 70 of Jasper, Ga died Thursday, March 17, 2011 after a 6 month battle with  Hepatocellular Carcinoma.  She was the wife of Robert L. Butler and daughter of Mildred and JB Hill.  She is  Survived by Daughters, Jo Ellen Butler and Karen McClellan, son in law, Shawn McClellan,  and grandsons Jordan and Ben McClellan.

Mimi Jo was born September 12, 1940 in Pickens County.  She attended Tate High School, Young Harris College, and graduated from Emory University with a degree in History and Sociology.  She continued her education with a Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Georgia.  She touched the lives of many teenagers in her 30+ years in education in Cherokee County.  She continued her service in Pickens County helping her community and children in need.

Mimi Jo was involved in Genealogy and Historical Preservation in Pickens and surrounding counties.  She did extensive research on her family and many genealogical heritages in the southeast.

She is a active member of Tate United Methodist Church.  She was a key person in the building process of TUMC Fellowship Hall.  Her community involvement was extensive.
