Nelda Medora Pollock Ragan, age 86, died peacefully in her sleep on December 25, 2025.
Born and raised in Bainbridge, Georgia, Nelda married Curtis R. Ragan, and the two of them began a life of adventure that took them to all parts of the world with careers in government service. Nelda took delight in sharing stories of being snowed in while living in a cabin in Alaska prior to its statehood, eating fish and chips in England, experiencing Octoberfest in Germany, and seeing elephants and white tigers in India. The couple retired to Dawsonville, GA, in 1993, and spent many years enjoying their children and grandchildren. After the death of her husband, Nelda lived for a short time in South Carolina and then spent her remaining years with family in Waleska, GA.
Nelda took great pride in her 17 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her "grands," she is survived by siblings Robert Pollock, Betty Gail Pollock Rawlins, and Dianne Pollock Guy, along with children David (Becky) Ragan, Brad (Lisa) Ragan, and Debbie (Duncan) Hoopes.
The memorial service will be January 16, at 12:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery.
