Obituary

Norma Cox Garrison, age 90 of Canton, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Born on December 17, 1935, to Ted and Ella Mae Cox, Norma lived life to the fullest, always laughing, loving, and providing a comforting presence to all who knew her. December 17th was a special day in more ways than one. Her loving husband Joel was also born on that day, and they married on their 19th birthdays, at Canton First Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member. Their beginning was a sign of just how close they would be for 71 years. While they raised four children together, they also started a furniture store together, and in their spare time, played tennis together. Norma will be remembered for gathering the family together every Sunday for brunch for many years, for her love of family and gardening, her cornbread dressing, and most especially, her "MaMa's" spaghetti. Perhaps together was her byword, and we can all look forward to the day we are all together again in heaven. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her beautiful granddaughters, Katie Dill and Ansley Beavers, and her brother James Kenneth Cox. She is survived by her husband Joel, her children Angie (Jimmy) Blevins, Wes (Lisa) Garrison, Greg (Laurie) Garrison, Lori Garrison and Mac Miller, her grandchildren Martie(Jordan) Turner, Brandy (Matt) Cole, Alex Garrison, Trey Garrison, Jess (Heather) Beavers and Luke Garrison, and her six great grandchildren, Davison Dill, Aleah Cole, Garrison Cole, Reece Richards, Khloe Hembree and Ellie Turner, Vale Wafrock. The family will receive friends at funeral home on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:30 pm, with the Reverend Dr. C. R. Hill, officiating. The family too will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to service. Interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or donations made in Norma's memory to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
The family respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
