Patricia Kathleen (Herne) Lilley passed away peacefully in her Ball Ground home on October 9, 2021. Born in Rochester, NY on July 12, 1938 to Mary and Frances Herne, she was the eldest of nine children. Patricia moved to Georgia in 1994 with her now late husband, Donald Lilley, to be close to her only child. She devoted much of the last three decades to documenting the history of stock car racing and was a prolific writer on the subject. She was lovingly known to her readers as Mama. She also had a passion for promoting the rehoming of stray and abandoned pets. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter-Ruth (Lilley) Knott, son-in-law-Douglas Knott, and granddaughters-Maria and Isabelle Knott, all of Ball Ground, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Cherokee County (Georgia) Humane Society in her memory.
