LTC Ray Eugene Williams, Sr. age 81 of Rydal, GA passed away May 2, 2016. Born January 25, 1935, Father Joseph Brown Williams, Sr. and mother Jewell Martin Williams. Sister Janis A Williams Overstreet Whitener. Brother J.B. (Bobby) Williams, Jr. Married Miss Margaret Ann Sherer of Avon Park, FL on May 29, 1960. They have three children Deborah Lynn Williams, Ray E Williams Jr., Wendy Wiley Williams Simone and three grandchildren Megan Wiley Simone, Rachel Kelly Simone and Shane Matthew Simone. Graduated Glynn Academy HS, Brunswick, Ga (1952); South Ga College, AS, Douglas, Ga (1954); University of Georgia, ABJ, Athens, Ga (1956); Rollins college, MBA Engineering Management, Winter Park Fla(1964); Tulane University, USAR-ADP Computer Programmer (1974); US National Defense University, National Security Management (1979); Atlanta Area BSA Commission College, PhD, Commission Science(1987-89). Worked eighteen years in US Aerospace program. Pershing Missile Specifications Engineer and Configuration Control Manager, Martin Marietta, Orlando, FL; Apollo Test Support Planning and Control Unit Manager, General Electric Co, Cape Kennedy, FL; Skylab Engineering Change Board Coordinator, Martin Marietta, Cape Kennedy, FL; Space Shuttle Change Control Board/Coordinator Manager, Martin Marietta Michoud Operations, New Orleans, LA Enlisted in US Army in 1956 and served thirty one years in US Army and Army Reserve. Retired as Lt Colonel, Signal Officer, US Army, 1987. Provided assistance to US State Department settling Vietnamese refugees (74-75); Spent four years as recruiting Officer, Dep Coordinator, New Orleans, LA Recruiting Station (76-80); served four years as Inspector General HQ, 5th US Army, FT SAM HOUSTON, San Antonio, TX (80-84); completed career as War Plans Officer, HQ FORSCOM, Atlanta, Ga (84-87). Returned to FORSCOM as a Civil Servant Et Specialist and retired at HQ, FORSCOM, Atlanta, Ga (1997). Forty years retired as Scout, Eagle Scout and volunteer Scoutmaster, Cub Master, Unit Committees and Commissioner. Served as Philmont Scoutmaster, JLT Troop 1, Philmont Scout Reservation, Cimarron, NM. 1955 Awarded National BSA Woodbadge, Vigil Honor, Order of the Arrow. Served as Chief, Brunswick Chapter and Okefenokee Lodge Order of the Arrow and Chief, Southeastern Area, Order of the Arrow. Served as Chapter Officer of National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) Chapter 545, Rome and Committee member, NARFE, Georgia State Federation of Chapters. Church services will be held at Pine Log United Methodist Church, Rydal, GA on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00am and being laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 1:00pm.
