Reverend Charles Harvey Davis completed his earthly journey on Father's Day, June 21st, 2026, surrounded by his family in his home.
He was brought into this world by Harvey Franklin Davis and Beulah Dunn on February 18, 1929, at Winnsboro, South Carolina.
Reverend Davis was honorably discharged from the United States Army Air Corps and eventual United States Air Force serving from 1946 – 1953. While stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi he met and married the woman of his dreams, Eva Mae Cox in 1948. They raised five children.
Charles began his journey in Christian Ministry in 1948. He and family served congregations in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. In 1967 he and family established permanent residence in Canton beginning at Hickory Flat Methodist Church. His calling led to establishment of Canton Community Church (1973- present) which now includes Little Ones Early Learning Center and Canton Community Christian School of Canton Community Ministries.
His service to The Gospel grew to include serving as Chaplain at RT Jones Hospital for over 30 years, founding the Cherokee County Ministerial Association, establishing the annual Easter Sunrise Service at Cherokee Memorial Park (47 years and counting), the Words of Inspiration prayer line (a ministry spanning over 60 years), and recognition as Cherokee County First Citizen of the Year, 2010.
Reverend Davis was preceded in death by wife, Eva Mae; son, John Harvey “Skip”; daughter, Elaine; brothers Jimmy and Mark; sisters Willie, Beulah, and Elsie.
He is survived by daughters Linda, Carol, and Charlene; 9 grand-children and 18 great grand-children
His devotion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ touched many near and far. His desire remains: trust Jesus Christ, always pray, aspire to love others as God does.
Please direct gifts of remembrance to Gideons International or Canton Community Ministries.
