Richard Davidson left this earthly home for his Heavenly eternal home on January 23, 2024.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maria and son, Christopher, both of Ballground, Ga. He also leaves behind brothers Donald Davidson (Barabara) of Fort Myers, Fl., Larry Davidson of Bay Minette, Alabama, and Phillip Davidson (Dianne) of Lawrenceville, Ga. along with a large extended family and many lifelong friends.

Richard was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 19, 1946, and move to Bradenton, Florida at an early age but later returned to Michigan where he graduated from Grand Blac High School in 1964.
Soon afterwards, returning to Florida where he met the love of his life, Maria Rio.

He joined the Army National Guard in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1971 where he was the section chief for the Medical Unit of the 116th Artillery.

Richard then pursued a career in Fire Administration and Emergency Management for the next 30 plus years where he worked for various Fire Departments in Florida, Illinois, and Missouri as Fire Chief and District Manager.

Upon moving to the Atlanta area, he was employed by the CDC for over 17 years, where he held numerous positions until 2024. Job titles included program services consultant, public health advisor and medical countermeasures specialist.

Richard was a devote Christian and loved the Lord serving in many volunteer capacities with every church he attended. He loved the outdoors and appreciated nature, feeding wild animals in his backyard, and taking care of his yard and landscaping.

The family requests that donations be made to Cherokee County Fire Chief's Foundation, in lieu of flowers in Richard's memory.
