Richard McKinley Martin of Canton, Georgia (formerly of Baldwin, Georgia and Forest Park, Georgia) has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior.  Mr. Martin passed away at 7:35PM on Friday April 24, 2009 after battling a multitude of medical issues.  He is survived by his wife, Sue Elder Martin, and his three children, Donna Martin Johnson of Parkland, Florida, Michael Richard Martin of McDonough, Georgia and Scott McKinley Martin of Newnan, Georgia.  He is also survived by his six (6) grandchildren and his four (4) great grandchildren all whom live in Georgia.
In addition to being a loving family-man, Mr. Martin was a decorated World War II veteran, a 32nd Degree Mason of the Forest Park Masonic Lodge, a Shriner of the Yaarab Temple, a proud member of Cherokee Baptist Church and in his youth a private pilot.
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 27, 2009 at 11:00AM at Darby Huey Funeral Home ( www.darbyfuneralhome.com ) in Canton, Georgia followed by an graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro, Georgia at 1:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his honor to either the American Diabetes Association ( www.ada.org ) or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ( www.jdrf.org ).
