Robert "Bob" Harold Stignani, age 86 of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Heritage Hospice. Bob was born and raised in Madison, WI and was active in school activities throughout his youth. During his college years at the University of Wisconsin, he participated in ROTC and enjoyed adventures in his summer jobs in the national forests in Oregon. After receiving his Bachelor's of Science in Agriculture, Bob joined the U.S. Air Force, he served active duty for 3 years and 9 years in the reserve.
During his years working for the Forest Service in California, he met Gail, the love of his life; together they were the perfect balance. He was committed to Gail for 59 years and together they raised two kids, Claire and Steve; whom they gave wonderful memories of camping, riding horses, rescuing animals of all kinds, and enjoying all life has to offer--a legacy that has lived on throughout his lineage. Bob led his kids and all those around him by example, demonstrating love, commitment, and service to others. Bob enjoyed the small things in life and will be remembered for his love of family, friends, nature, and community.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Clarice Stignani; father, Julius Stignani; brother, David Stignani; and sister, Dorothy Zwerg. He is survived by his wife, Frances Gail Stignani; daughter, Claire (Bobby) Sims; son, Steve (Alicia) Stignani; and, sister, Janet (Peter) Roth; Grandchildren - Jason (Paige) Sims, Andrea (Ben) Hammond, Rachel (Kyle) Cooke, Sophie (Jordan Williams) Stignani; and Great-Grandchildren - Jenna Sims, Kyle Sims, Savannah Sims, Scout Hammond, Eve Hammond, Noah Cooke.
A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 18th at Georgia National Cemetery with a Memorial Service following at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home for friends and family.
