Obituary

Mister Robert "Bob" Kimmer, Jr., peacefully took his last breath and went to be with his Lord on December 1st, 2020, at the age of 78. In the room with him were his wife and two sons.
Bob Kimmer is survived by his wife of 52 years: Lois Kimmer of Holly Springs, and his two sons Rob Kimmer III (wife Kristie) and family of Canton and Reverend JC Kimmer (wife Melissa) and family of Dakar, Senegal, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in law, and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Robert Arnold Kimmer, Sr., mother Ruth Elizabeth Seith Kimmer, sister Ellen Marie Kimmer, and niece Nancy Preston.
Bob Kimmer was born in 1942. He graduated with degrees from CW Post College and from Florida Atlantic University. In 1968 he married Lois Preston, who was working at North Palm Elementary. They purchased a home in West Palm Beach, Florida. He taught math for thirteen years at Lantana Junior High. In 1980, he became the principal of First Baptist Church Day School. In the summer of 1991 the family moved to North Georgia where Bob Kimmer became a 6th grade science teacher for ten years at Canton Elementary. He retired from Pickens Middle School.
In and out of the classroom he was always teaching... freely imparting useful information and wisdom about everything from the Bible to basic life skills. "Measure twice, cut once" was a favored axiom that applied to more than just carpentry.
Over the years, Bob Kimmer taught his sons about good money management, spiritual values, basic car maintenance, respect for women and the elderly, and kindness to animals. His sons remember him as a kind, patient, focused man who encouraged them to always do the right thing and to put God and family first. His wife remembers him as a devoted, loving, hard working husband who was very unselfish.
Bob Kimmer and his wife were members of the Hickory Road Baptist Church.
A brief graveside funeral is scheduled for Friday, December 4th at 3 pm at the Landmark Baptist Church Cemetery in Holly Springs at the corner of Holly Street and Marble Quarry Road. All are welcome to attend. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at the Hickory Road Baptist Church (2146 Hickory Rd in Holly Springs) at 11 but friends are welcome to arrive as early as 10:30 for visitation. Pastor Bryan Edenfield will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Hope Center in Woodstock at 295 Molly Lane.
