Robert E. Rugg's Obituary

Robert E. Rugg, 89 passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026. Bob was born on January 8, 1937 in Plymouth Massachusetts, to Fred and Annie Rugg. He will be remembered as a man of generosity, compassion and a great sense of humor, as well as for his mission to serve his community.

Bob graduated with a business degree from Pepperdine University in 1958. He went on to see success as a founder and owner of a successful transportation business, North Star International, which he ran for 25 years, until his retirement in 2000. Among his many accomplishments, Bob was proud to have been a published poet, as well as the Chair of the Cherokee County Republican party here in Georgia.

He was a devoted father who instilled a sense of duty and curiosity in his children. His legacy continues as he is survived by his wife Diane Jordan Rugg of Canton, his three children, Bobby Jo Foran (Greg) of Riverside Ca, Josh Rugg (Kerilynne) of Auburn Ca, and Becky Rugg-Fryman (Jeromey) of Haysville Ks. Bob also leaves behind nine grandchildren as well as great grandchildren who will carry forward his exuberance for life.

In honoring Bob's wishes, there will be no service; however, should you wish to make a contribution in his name to Samaritan's Purse International Relief we know that he would have been grateful.
