Mrs. Ruth Moore Long age 97 of Holly Springs, GA died on Saturday, August 22, 2015 following a brief illness. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 23 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, August 24 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Darby Funeral Home in Canton, GA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Darby Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Cherokee Memorial Park, Canton, GA.
Mrs. Long was a homemaker and accomplished pianist. She was long-time member of First Baptist Church of Canton and church pianist for several years at Canton Community Church. Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar J. Long. Survivors include her sister Mrs. Viola Bland and four children James Long, Linda (Long) Owen, Paul Long, and Carol (Long) Morris and their spouses; eleven grandchildren Eddie Long, Cliff Owen, Paula Rothenberger, Sarah Whitmarsh, Tyler Phillips, Marty Long, Ginger Burton, Patrick Long, Nathan Morris, Neil Morris, and Noah Morris; and twelve great grandchildren Michael Bub, John Rothenberger, Ernest Whitmarsh, Clayton Owen, Jon Burton, James Long, Julia Long, Joseph Burton, Cora Owen, Addison Long, Brody Long, and Anne Whitmarsh.
