Sandra Lynn Ransom Bennett passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday October 21 at Cherokee Northside Regional Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Sandra was born to Wanda and John Ransom Sr. on August 10, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a proud Texan, and would jokingly ask others, "I'm from Texas, what country are you from?" Sandra attended Wichita Falls schools, and she graduated from Wichita Falls High School "The Mighty, Mighty Coyotes" in 1962. She attended Midwestern University and worked for Meryl Lynch Stock Exchange in the years following graduation. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Douglas Bennett, who was stationed at Sheppard Field military base. They fell in love, and they married on November 2, 1967. In 1970, they were blessed with their first child, Jeffrey Douglas Bennett, and in 1974, they were blessed with their second child, Christopher Lynn Bennett. Sandra was a homemaker for most of her married life and was an awesome wife and mother. She was also a devout Christian always attentive to the Lord's call. She created the senior's luncheon at Hickory Flat UMC to honor seniors in the community. She worked as a Christian school kindergarten teacher, and was instrumental in developing MUST Ministries charitable organization and served as its director for ten years. Following she and her husband's retirement, they spent time with their children and their four grandchildren, AnnaLynne, Walker, Brady and Brett. Sandra also enjoyed crocheting, reading, working on crafts, and gardening in her spare time.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and John Ransom Sr. and her brother, John Ransom Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Douglas Bennett, of Woodstock and their fur babies, Brownie and Max. Her sons and their families, Jeffrey and Debbie, AnnaLynne and Walker Bennett of Woodstock and Chris and Christy, Brett and Brady Bennett of Lexington, South Carolina. Her brother, Stephen Ransom, of Woodstock and her aunt, Lynn Lough of Lubbock, Texas along with many cousins. Sandra never met a stranger, and when and her family moved to Woodstock, she quickly made friends from her home church, Hickory Flat United Methodist. Among her many close friends were Carole Haley, Nita Coker, Dian Crosby, Margaret Misseri, and Barbara Smith. Sandra was still friends with two of her girlhood chums, Linda Tent and Joyce Cox of Wichita Falls, Texas. She truly was a friend to all.
