Obituary

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, Sean Christopher Weidman. Sean was born to David and Cheryle Weidman on October 5, 1967, in Hamilton, NY and passed away at the age of 57 on April 28, 2025 in Marietta, GA. Sean's loving spirit is carried on by his father, David; mother, Cheryle; sisters, Heather and Autumn, loved ones, Eric Ritter and Kevin Irick, along with his nieces and nephews, Makhenna, Cooper and Adalyn. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Sean was known for his kind heart, loving spirit, unwavering support, guiding light, sense of humor, and love for his family and friends. Sean had an incredible ability to find joy in the simplest of things and to spread that joy to others. His resilience in the face of challenges was truly inspiring, teaching us all the value of perseverance and optimism. Growing up with Sean was an adventure. He was always there – whether to offer a helping hand, share a laugh, or provide a shoulder to lean on. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his dedication to his family, work, friends, and his home away from home Georgia Southern University. Sean's laughter could light up the room. His sense of humor was infectious, and he always had a knack for making everyone around him smile. He loved music, playing drums, guitar, and travelling to listen to different bands and music festivals. He enjoyed the water and everything in it, his joy of jet skiing, the ocean, the lake and his beloved exotic fish. Family was everything and we will cherish those memories close to our hearts. From our birthdays, holiday gatherings, and family board game nights brought about the most fun. We are a competitive group, and Sean always tried to sneak something by us and would be followed by the whole family telling him, 'Sean you can't do that!" His nieces and nephew were his proudest joy. He never missed a dance recital, and you would find him on the sidelines cheering on his nephew at his soccer games. He was so proud of each of their achievements and would boast to friends about their individual successes. He was one proud Uncle. Georgia Southern University was the heart of who Sean was. He was an Eagle through and through. Some of his fondest memories were within the campus of GSU. He found himself and all the great attributes he possessed, and his lifelong friendships who were more like brothers to him. These friendships impacted him, his life, and the lives of others. To quote Dr. Seuss – "To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world – and that was my brother. Rest easy Sean, your void will forever be felt. Fly high on Freedom's wings - we love you always and forever.
