Sherman Leon Wehunt, age 78 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his residence. He retired from AT&T and was a U.S. Army Veteran that served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Visitation Services will begin on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 12:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. and Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 10:00a.m to 12:00p.m at Darby Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 2:00p.m. at Mica Baptist Church. Reverend Tommy Estes, Reverend Clyde Boling, and Reverend Kenny Sutton will officiate the service. The body will remain in state at the church from 1:30p.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Mica Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Fletcher Wehunt of Ball Ground, Ga., his sisters, Oveida Revis of Nelson, Ga., and Lois Stewart of Opelika, Al., his brother, Kenneth Wehunt of Barnesville, Ga., his sister-in-laws, Margaret Stancil of Ball Ground, Ga., Willie Grace Bannister of Ball Ground, Ga., and Sandra Wehunt of Jasper, Ga. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive including Linda Stead, Rebecca Bannister, Marquieta Tyson, Tony Stancil, Kyle Stancil, Kirby Stancil, Frank Hatch, Danny Fletcher, Richard Cowart, Stanley Cowart, and David Cowart.
