Stanley "Coon" Townsend age 67 of Waleska, Georgia, died on Thursday January 29, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Coon was a devoted husband for 47 years, a proud father to two sons, and the steady foundation of a family legacy that will continue for generations. That legacy was shaped not only at home, but through service and brotherhood. He was a proud member and Past Master of Waleska Lodge #57, and also a dedicated member of Yaarab Shrine and the Cherokee Shrine Club—roles he carried with quiet pride and deep commitment.

Through hard work and perseverance, he built an empire in the dirt—earning the respect of his community not through words, but through action, integrity, and grit. Though he never sought recognition, his impact was unmistakable, and his presence became a cornerstone of the community he served.

Known as a gentle giant, he had a heart as big as his work ethic. Nothing brought him more joy than time with his grandchildren, whether sharing stories or instilling wisdom. He cherished simple pleasures: riding on the boat, setting out on spontaneous road trips, restoring old cars, and eating ice cream. His life was defined by loyalty, humility, and love, and those who knew him were better for it. His legacy lives on in his family, his work, and the countless lives he touched without ever asking for credit.

Funeral Services will be Held on Tuesday February 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Darby Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Shane Stephenson, Rev. Trammell Rhodes, Mr. Joey Hughes & Mr. Parker Townsend Officiating. Interment will follow, in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, with Masonic Honors by Waleska Lodge # 57.

The Family will receive friends at the Darby Funeral home on Sunday and Monday 1PM – 8 PM and on Tuesday 12- 2PM. In Lieu of flowers donations may be to American Cancer Society or Waleska Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include wife, Dottie Darby Townsend of Waleska, GA; mother, Becky Townsend of Waleska, GA; sons & daughters-in-law, Jason & Jennifer Townsend of Waleska, GA; and Joshua & Kylie Townsend, Waleska, GA; Brother & sister-in-law, Steve & Kim Townsend of Canton, GA; sister & Brother-in-law, Debo & Jr McCurry of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Jordan & Haley Townsend, Madalyn Townsend, Beau Townsend, Parker Townsend, Emma Townsend, Isabell Townsend; and Great Grandchildren, Remington Sword, Emerson Sword, Clara Townsend.
