Steven Aubrey Parker's Obituary

Steven Aubrey Parker of Woodstock, Georgia passed away at home Sunday, January 11, 2026.
Steve was born in Moultrie, Georgia to Aubrey and Wylene Parker and was a 1964 graduate of Moultrie High School. He attended Valdosta State College before enlisting in the United States Army and serving in Vietnam. While stationed at Da Nang Air Base, he supported air reconnaissance missions as a photogrammetrist, processing aerial photographs into maps. This learned skill became useful again in later life.
After the Army, he continued his studies at Norman College before earning a Business degree from Valdosta State College. While at Valdosta, he met and married his college sweetheart, Patrice.
Steve and Patrice settled in Moultrie, where they raised their three daughters. Steve enjoyed a 30+year career at Parker Auto Machine Shop, the family business started by his grandfather in 1939. The business grew to become the third largest engine remanufacturing facility in the southeastern United States.
After selling the business in 2004 he joined his family in the Atlanta area. In his retirement, Steve became a Georgia Master Gardener and volunteered with the Coweta County Master Gardeners program. Eventually, Steve returned to work - turning his life-long love for photography and the photogrammetry skills learned in the military, into a second career with the Georgia Department of Transportation. Over the next ten years, he supported road development projects across the state.
Service to others, his country, and to God were of the utmost importance to Steve. In Moultrie he was a member of the Moultrie Rotary Club, serving a term as President, and actively participated in Class of 1964 reunion activities, among other pursuits.
A proud veteran, Steve was a Legacy Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2667 in Newnan, serving as post officer from 2018-2021. Steve also participated in the Vet Connect Program at Newnan High School where he shared personal photographs and wartime experiences with a younger generation. Steve was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock, serving for several years in the Faith Formation children's ministry.
Steve is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patrice; three daughters, Stephanie Mock of Canton; Betsy (Brian) Hood of Madison, WI; and Lisa Parker of Woodstock; grandaughters, Aubrey Mock and Britton Hood; sister Peggy (Barney) Riley of St. Simons Island as well as numerous other relatives. Steve will be laid to rest on January 27, 2026 in a private, family ceremony at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
