Obituary

Susan Camille Buzogany, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 84. In a moment that her family will forever hold close to their hearts, her son, Robert “Bob” Buzogany, passed away only hours before her — as if he had stopped by to lovingly take her home with him.

Born on July 9, 1941, in Cincinnati, Susan was the youngest of three children born to Camille Wenstrup and Harry Seger. She grew up alongside her brother Jim Seger and sister Patricia Seger, forming the deep family bonds and lifelong friendships that would define her life.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Buzogany; her son, Michael Buzogany and his wife Kelly; and her daughter, Becky Buzogany and her husband Tom Hockin. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Michaela, Melina, Michael Max, Leah, Tommy, Jakob, and Adam, each of whom brought endless joy to her life.

A devout Catholic and active member of her church community, Susan was the heart and matriarch of her family. Her faith guided the way she loved others — with grace, generosity, strength, and unwavering devotion. She had a remarkable gift for keeping people connected, maintaining cherished friendships with her childhood friends and neighbors from Cincinnati throughout her entire life. To know Susan was to feel included, remembered, and loved.

Susan lived life fully and passionately. She was an avid tennis player who passed along her competitive spirit and love of sports to her children and grandchildren. She was famously sharp at the card table — whether playing Bridge or Euchre — and even sharper in conversation, known for her quick wit, intelligence, eloquence, and unforgettable sense of humor.

Academically gifted and ahead of her time, Susan studied Chemistry at a private Catholic women’s college and began her career at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati. She later earned additional degrees in computer programming and became one of the first women computer programmers to work for companies including Verizon and Alltel, paving the way for women in technology long before it was common.

Susan treasured gatherings with family and friends. She loved hosting parties, especially Kentucky Derby celebrations in Louisville, where laughter, storytelling, and good food were always plentiful. She adored family vacations to Hilton Head Island and the state parks of Kentucky and Ohio, places where countless cherished memories were made.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: tending her garden, especially her beloved Rose of Sharon flowers; sharing treasured Hungarian family recipes from her husband’s side of the family; cooking with her grandchildren; enjoying a good book; and relaxing with a glass of her favorite wine, lovingly referred to as “Dr. Josh.”

Susan will be remembered for her beautiful light green eyes, her brilliant mind, her welcoming home, and the boundless love she gave so freely. She embraced life with enthusiasm, elegance, humor, and heart. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the friendships she treasured, and the countless lives she touched.

She loved deeply, laughed often, and truly lived life to the fullest.

A joint Memorial Service celebrating the life of Susan and her son, Bob, will be held at 12:30PM Thursday May 14, 2026, from the Chapel of Darby Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery with Father Mark Starr officiating. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service beginning at 11:30AM.

The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ms. Susan Camille Buzogany.
