Terry Lynn Denton, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born in Johnson City, Tennessee, in 1947, Terry lived a life marked by service, kindness, and devotion to his family and faith. After graduating from Science Hill High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Thailand. Trained as an aircraft mechanic, Terry translated those skills into a long and respected career as an auto technician.
While stationed in Michigan, Terry met the love of his life, Rita Mae Bandy. They were married in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1972 and went on to raise three daughters together in Woodstock, Georgia. Married for nearly 50 years, Terry cared for his wife Rita through her dementia until she passed in January 2022.
Terry was known for his kind and happy disposition, often making friends wherever he went. He had a heart for helping both people and animals, and he lived out his faith as a believer in Jesus Christ as a member of Restoration Church in Roswell, Georgia.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Fred Denton, and his wife, Rita Denton. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Felts of Canton, Georgia; Laura Denton and Luke Burden (husband), of Canton, Georgia; and Christina Denton of Woodstock, Georgia. He was a proud grandfather to Liam and Hannah Felts, and Christian, Caden, and Summer Burden. His legacy lives on through the lives of his children and grandchildren, whom he loved deeply and provided for with dedication and care.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Darby Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia. Following the service, a procession will lead to Georgia National Cemetery for a military honors ceremony in recognition of his service to his country.
