Thomas Dillard "Dill" Austin, age 83 of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

Thomas, "Dill," was a loving and devoted husband and father, doting grandfather, and proud great-grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. As a young man he attended Olivine Baptist Church, where he later joined and gave his life to the Lord. He proudly served his country and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked for General Motors and retired after 30 years of service.

Thomas will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the lasting memories he created with those who knew and loved him; his life was a testament to dedication, family, faith, and love. Though his earthly journey has come to a close, the love and smiles he shared will be his legacy for generations to come.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; Carl (Millie Jo) Austin; his siblings, Ann Austin, Margaret Stafford, Carl Austin Jr., and James B. Austin.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 56 years; Annie Doris "Dot" Austin, his children; Denisha Austin, Derwin Austin, and Derek (Tabra) Austin, all of Canton, Georgia.

He will also be lovingly remembered as "Papa D" by his grandchildren; Jasmine Austin, Zachary Austin, and Desmond Austin. Great-grandchildren; Leilani Austin, Kashton Austin, and Kayson Austin.

Thomas leaves behind a beautiful family that will carry his memory in their hearts, and though he will be deeply missed they will take comfort in the many memories they created and shared. "Thank God for loaning him to us for 83 years."

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, at 12:00 p.m. at Hickory Log Baptist Church, with Rev. Kevin Roach officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church.

The interment will be held on Thursday, October 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery.

A quote Thomas kept near was, "If we meet and you forget me, you have lost nothing, but if you meet Jesus Christ and forget him, you have lost everything."
