Toby Andrews Akridge, age 86, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at her home.
Toby was born on September 21, 1938, in Addison, Alabama to Jefferson Davis Andrews and Lucy Wellborn Andrews. She grew up in Fairview, Alabama as one of eleven kids. She graduated from Fairview High School, Class of 1956 and went on to Samford University (then Howard College) Class of 1960. Toby moved to Atlanta, Georgia and worked as a girls' gym teacher and coach. In 1961, Toby married Wilson L. ("Lee") Akridge, then a student at Georgia Tech. Following Lee's graduation in 1962, the couple moved to Los Angeles, California. While in Los Angeles, Toby worked for singer/actor Pat Boone before having her first child. Toby and Lee subsequently lived in Houston, Texas, Long Island, New York, Melbourne Beach, Florida, Fairfax, Virginia, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Centreville, Virginia, before retiring to Canton, Georgia.
Toby is survived by sons Michael Akridge (Kristin) of Woodstock, Georgia, David Akridge (Eric) of Canton, Georgia, and Jay Akridge of London, England. Toby had seven grandchildren (Katy, Melanie, Ryan, Megan, Max, Rachel, and Meredith) and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee and her son Andy.
