Vincent Sesler Haaland, Jr.

Vincent Sesler Haaland JR passed away April 16, 2026 surrounded by loved ones after a long illness. Vincent was a devoted husband, father, patriot, and a man of God who will be truly missed by many

Vince was born on Christmas day 1947 in Buffalo, NY to Vincent S Haaland Sr and Beatrice Haaland (Sauter) where he was raised and attended Kenmore Schools. He signed up for the Army reserves in 1968, went to basic training in Texas. He continued on as a PFC combat medic and operating room technician at posts across the US. He was married to his first wife in 1971 and has 2 children Kristen N Haaland and Scott V Haaland.

Vince had a career in law enforcement which spanned 36 years in Buffalo, NY. Outside his role as a police officer, he was an avid real estate investor who owned and managed various rental properties including the former high rise at 210 Delaware which had a long history in Buffalo.

Vince was remarried in 1997 to Karen Kurzanski Haaland. He welcomed her children Christian Sorochty and Nathan Sorochty to the family. Vince made an effort to take the family on a fishing vacation every year to Black Lake, NY. In 2010 Vince retired with his wife and they moved to Canton GA where they enjoyed volunteering, antique automobile clubs, and traveling. It was in the Georgia foothills that he became an enthusiastic member in the local veterans associations.

A private service was held at the Canton First Methodist Church and Vince was laid to rest on April 29th at the Georgia National Cemetery with military honors.

Vince had a way of making friends everywhere he went and he had a charm that went hand in hand with his gift of gab. Those who knew him best appreciated his unique humor and his jovial spirit. He is survived by his wife Karen, his two children, Kristen and Scott, his two stepsons and their spouses, Christian and Amy, and Nathan and Julie.
