Wilfred Rogers (83) died on Wednesday February 23, 2011 peacefully at his home in Waleska, Georgia. Born on July 21st, 1927 to parents Brady Wilbur Rogers and Edna (Newland) Rogers in Willow, West Virginia. Will was an avid conservationist and hunter and thoroughly enjoyed his favorite hobbies of gun ownership and marksmanship. At age 17 he joined the Navy during World War II and after completion of service graduated from Mountain State College. A Mason, Shriner and member of the Canton First United Methodist Church, Will loved to belong and participate in organizations he believed in. Will spent most of his business life working for the United States Postal Service as a Real Estate Specialist.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Phyllis Lee (Flinn) Rogers and their four sons Stuart Rogers his wife Beverly, children Kyle and Michael, Brian Rogers his wife Lora, children Bryce and Blaire, Craig Rogers his wife Missy, son Steven and Kevin Rogers his wife Leslie, children Elizabeth and Emily. He is also survived by two sisters Doris Hoffman and her son David Hoffman and Donna Cain and her husband Bernard and their three children Terry, Sherry and Doug of Parkersburg, West Virginia.
There will be a memorial service on Friday February 25th from 11 A.M. with visitation at the Darby Funeral Home (770) 479-2193 - 480 E Main St, Canton, GA Thursday from 6 – 8PM. Wilfred will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton GA.
