Obituary for William Alan Carlson

William Alan Carlson, 79, of Ball Ground, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday November 23, 2025. Born on February 4, 1946, in Worcester, Massachusetts, he was the son of Vivian Westerberg and E. Rudy Carlson.
On October 21, 1967, Billy married his best friend, Susan Mallquist. Together they
recently celebrated their 58 th wedding anniversary. Billy and Susan were born and raised
in Massachusetts and moved to Georgia in 1986.
A proud and hardworking man, Billy took great honor in working until he was 76 years
old before retiring. He owned and operated Carlson's Termite and Pest Control, where
his dedication and work ethic earned him the trust of countless families over the years.
Billy was most at home outdoors where he found peace and purpose in nature while
sitting on the back porch or in his deer stand. In addition to his owning his own
business, Billy could build whatever he put his mind to including barns, porches, and
even re-built his Duxbury Beach home in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
His favorite place, though, was his garage. It was there he listened to music, welcomed
family and friends, and rocked in his favorite chair. Billy loved to socialize, and most of
all, to make them laugh.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Susan Mallquist Carlson of Ball
Ground, GA; his daughters Christine Lynch (husband Christopher Lynch) and Cari
Shuler, all of Ball Ground, GA; his son Michael William Carlson of Dunwoody, GA; his
step brothers Ronald Carlson of Arizona and Warren Carlson of Idaho; six grandchildren
– Holly Lynch, Serina Lynch, Sophia Lynch, Matthew Carlson, Ryan Shuler, and Jordan
Shuler; and two great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered as a hardworking provider, a man with a sharp wit, and a hearty
laugh. Billy loved his family fiercely. A family who will forever carry his memory forward.
A visitation will be held Friday November 28th from 4:00PM until 6:00PM. Ball Ground casual attire will be the accepted attire.
