William Lawrence "Larry" Haley, Jr., of Canton, Georgia, will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his mischievous streak, and a life lived on his own terms.

Born in Canton, Georgia, on August 18, 1943, to William Lawrence Haley, Sr., and Ruby Ray Haley, Larry grew up in the Avery community, going to the Philadelphia Church. He attended Avery Elementary, which was near the regular Haley Family Reunions. He then attended Cherokee Highschool.

Those Georgia roots remained part of his story throughout his life, much of which he spent on Oakdale Road running what he affectionately called the "HaleyDay Inn."

Larry served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era. He was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Shriners, sharing in their traditions of fellowship and service.

Throughout his life, Larry worked in a variety of professions and embraced many new beginnings. His story included a few marriages-a detail befitting a life with no shortage of unexpected turns. Always ready for mischief or an adventure, Larry brought a spirited, unpredictable presence to the lives of those who knew him. His family will have stories to tell for generations.

Larry is survived by his three children and their families: Dr. Shanda Haley Blackmon with her husband, Matthew Comer Blackmon, and their three children, Jake Powell Blackmon, Sam Alden Blackmon, and Grace Kay Blackmon; Lance Alden Haley with his wife, Jessica Elam Haley, and their three children, Cameron Nicole Haley, Hudson Landis Haley, and Kaia Leighton Haley; and Will Abdul Haley, with his wife, Jessica Westfall Haley, and their two children, Riley Ann Haley and Liam Vallen Haley. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Tony Haley and sister-in-law, Dr. Hillary Haley, along with his neices and nephews, Barbie Haley, Ricky Haley, Joey Haley, Tripp Lusk, Haley Lusk, Chris Haley, Ben Haley, Sam Haley and Olivia Haley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Haley; and his sister, Kay Haley.

Larry leaves behind three children, eight grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews and a lifetime of memories. From his beginnings beside a Georgia lake to the many adventures that followed, his was a story uniquely his own. His memory lives on in his family, in the stories they share, and in the moments of laughter that will continue whenever someone begins, "Remember when Larry…"
