William Kenneth Smith, born November 27, 1942, of Canton, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
He was the son of the late William Glenn and Marie Skinner Smith. Ken was also preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Marie Herold.
Surviving are Ken's loving wife, Carol Smith; and his daughter, Stephanie Carlyle and husband, Josh of Sugar Hill, Georgia; his son, Jonathan Eric Smith of Canton, Georgia; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Smith of Woodstock, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Payden Gross and husband Christian of Cumming; Corbin, Evan, and Megan Michielsen of Sugar Hill; Garrett Roper and Jada, Kenneth, and Harley Smith of Woodstock; and his great grandson, Kailer Nathaniel; his niece, Terry Daughtrey and husband, John and his nephew, Scott Tess and wife, Nanette, all of Florida.
Ken was a proud Navy veteran who fought in the Vietnam war. He loved his country and family very much. Ken was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. When not with the family, he could be found at Ten Gun Hunting Club with his "huntin' buddies."
A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16 at Waleska United Methodist Church in Waleska, Georgia, with a reception to follow.
The inurnment will be in the Georgia National Cemetery, on Monday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend the inurnment are asked to meet at Darby Funeral Home by 1:20 p.m to go in procession to the cemetery.
