Dr. William Bryant "Snooks" Saye, 83 of Woodstock, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Northside Hospital Cherokee.
Dr. Saye was born on June 19, 1939, in Madison, Georgia to William Bryant Saye and Louise Booth. He graduated from Morgan County High School in Madison, Georgia where he was a state champion in football. After high school, Dr. Saye attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he was quarterback of the football team and served as president of the Student Body, as well as many other clubs on campus. Dr. Saye attended Tulane Medical School. He was an officer in the United States Air Force, stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. After he was honorably discharged, Dr. Saye established his practice in Marietta, Georgia as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist where he served the community from 1971 to 1988. After leaving his practice, Dr. Saye transitioned to Laparoscopic Surgery and performed the first Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. He was the founder of the Advanced Laparoscopy Training Center in Marietta, Georgia. Dr. Saye retired to Fernandina Beach, Florida in 2000. Although his career was in the medical field, Dr. Saye had a profound love for his family, the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing as well as caring for his quarter horses and paint horses.
Dr. Saye was preceded in death by his father, William Bryant Saye, mother, Louise Bray, and stepfather, A.T. Bray.
He is survived by his children, Steve Saye; grandchildren, Tayler Cahill and Buck Saye; great-grandchildren, Avery Eubanks, Brody Cahill, Branson Cahill, and Brinley Saye; son, Jeff and Kim Saye of Woodstock; grandchildren, Thomas Saye and Matthew Saye; daughter, Laurie and Scott Gilbert of Woodstock; grandchildren, Reagan Gilbert and Walker Gilbert; son, Brandon Saye; granddaughter, Kendall Saye; and former wife, Krista Saye of Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Services in honor and celebration of the life of Dr. Saye will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made in Dr. Saye's memory to the Tunnels to Towers foundation.
