William Lindsay Tyner Sr. died at age 72 on Sunday, August 28th, 2022 with his family at his side in Mt Juliet TN.
Bill was born on October 7th, 1949 in Orlando FL to John "Porter" Tyner and Margaret Tyner. His father worked in pharmaceutical sales and his mother worked as a social worker. He later moved to Spartanburg SC where he resided for the majority of his childhood. Fond memories and lifelong friends were formed where he attended and graduated from Spartanburg High School and then The University of South Carolina in Columbia SC.
His childhood was spent playing and exploring the local wilderness both in his spare time and as a boy scout, eventually earning the honor of Eagle Scout, as well as competing in a number of athletics including football, baseball and track.
Bill was a proud Vietnam Era Army Veteran and served his country faithfully during his time in the service.
He met his wife, Mary McLean Tyner, at the University of South Carolina then married in 1980 and remained faithfully married for 42 years.
He moved to Atlanta GA to pursue his dreams of owning a small business in marketing research, and Mary dedicated her professional career to teaching elementary aged children at a local school. Bill successfully ran his marketing research company for over 30 years.
Bill will be remembered as a faithful, loving, honest man of integrity and faith who loved his family and friends more than he loved himself.
Bill is survived by His spouse Mary Tyner, His children and their spouses, Will and Jamie Tyner, Thomas and Alicia Tyner, and Perrin and Bryant Mayne, His brother and his wife, John and Lou Tyner and 7 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Darby Funeral Home in Canton GA on Friday, September 2nd from 11am to 12pm followed by a graveside service at 12:30pm at Georgia National Cemetery.
